About Roan Mountain
Roan Mountain is a community strung along the Doe River at the foot of the Roan Highlands, one of the highest and most photographed stretches of the southern Appalachians.
The state park and the natural rhododendron gardens draw visitors from across the country each June, and the Appalachian Trail runs the ridge above town — which supports a real cabin and short-term rental market alongside year-round homes.
